Sanctuary of the Deep, 2024
Wool, unspun roving, shells, driftwood
18 x 28 x 1 in, $400
The idea for this piece came around from the thought that before shells are collected on the beach for their beauty, they are created and used for protection. This woven wall hanging sheds light on the need to stay safe and out of danger from assault, but also the longing for connection. This is a feeling that many minorities have and in the present day it’s a feeling that women feel strongly.
